The development objective of the FSRP is to increase preparedness against food insecurity and improve the resilience of food system stakeholders, priority landscapes and value chains in the programme’s target areas in Mali.

 The FSRP in Mali is being implemented in 3 regions: (i) Koutiala; (ii) Ségou; (iii) Sikasso.

The priority value chains in Mali are rice, maize and onions. Activities focus on expanding the participation of a range of stakeholders in the three target value chains, with particular attention to developing the capacity of producers to meet the institutional, infrastructural, technical and technological requirements of competitive value chains. 

Component 1

Training/ Awareness-raising for 75 PO members and 75 local councillors on meteorological information and communication;

-Training of 32 agents and 50 village brigades in plant protection.

 

Component 2

Acquisition and distribution of 1,056 tonnes of seeds to farmers in the 75 communes covered by the programme

Component 3

– Establishment of two SCORECARD teams. A large team responsible for collecting data on trade in agricultural products and inputs and a small team responsible for processing and analysing the data and drafting reports.
